Wordpress has a lot of great plugins to help with SEO.  Once your blog has content, its time for you to sneak up on Google and Yahoo…Bing, not so much.

These are some of the easier ones I found that didnt make me fight with them.  Like most of us, I want something that will just do the work with little effort on my part (guess thats the American in me).  Many of the plugins out there end up taking more time to configure than what I want to mess with.  I also like the idea of inserting my own PHP or HTML.  Guess I’m just old school.

A great plugin for SEO and for just placing code in the head area of your project is Headspace 2 here you can throw in your own meta tags or javascript right above the head area of your document.  This is great for a homemade banner rotator.

The other one that really is a must have is the All in one SEO pack.  This really is where everyone should start if you have Wordpress.  This one makes all your meta tag information available to you in Wordpress options, simply fill out the fom and pot it.  Your SEO is pretty much done.  There actually is a newer plugin that I feel is better than the All in one.  Platinum SEO plugin goes even further than the All in one pack does.

Can’t forget your robots tag.  This one gets over looked sometimes.  The Meta Robots plugin is a great solution and lets you set the follow or nofollow for differnt post.

The other plugin that I think is a must for Wordpress is the SEO Blogroll.  This plugin will let you seperate your links into actual categories.  Just makes it nicer so you dont have a giant list of everything strange on the internet stacked together.

Now one of the problems that I have is, people rely on these plugins and think their SEO work is done.  There is a lot more to SEO than these few plugins can do for you.  This is where, finding someone with experience can pay off.  It is one thing to enter in information into various plugins, and its another thing to enter in good relevent information into plugins. A professional will know how to make tools like these go far on Search Engines.
