Google’s New Algorithm

Yes most of us are aware by now that Google has been using a new algorithm.  If your site’s SEO was done properly, then you shouldn’t have noticed a shift in your page rank.  Most people should notice that their rank has gotten better.  Over the years Google’s algorithm has changed, but it always seems to have the same focus.  Getting the websites with the right content on their first page.  They have done a good job explaining how to structure your sites metadata.  Don’t agree with me, just signup for Google Webmaster and you will see the amount of information they put out there without revealing too much that would give another search engine insight into their code.

So far I have still been able to get clients websites on the first page of Google.  If anything I have noticed a boost in my clients rankings.  Here is the latest formula Google is supposed to be going by.

(Kw Usage Score * 0.3) + (Domain * 0.25) + (PR Score * 0.25) + (Inbound Link Score * 0.25) + (User Data * 0.1) + (Content Quality Score * 0.1) + (Manual Boosts) – (Automated & Manual Penalties)

My assumption is that inbound links went down a bit in terms of relevance.  This keeps those sites that have used link farms from taking up all the prime spots on page 1.

Everything else is just straight forward SEO.  pick a useful domain name, fill out all the meta tags properly so Google knows what your sites about.  And like they have always said, Content is king.  Write some good unique content that focuses on your websites main area of expertise.

If your pulling your hair out over this, because your site lost ranking chances are there is more SEO that needs to be done on your website.  Look there before you try to blame some Algorithum
