Quick fix for a slow PC

Over the years I have had to work with many different computers.  Yes, I do go back and forth from a Mac to PC.  I do feel that both systems have their pros and cons, so for this reason I’m one of those few biased computer nerds.

In terms of trouble shooting your windows vista here are a few things to start with.  Don’t go taking your computer to the first fix it place the minute it acts up.  Don’t visit the online computer fixit site from that commercial on tv where the kid is using a mac and the disclaimer says for windows only.

After years of working in offices, I know as well as you do that 70% of working documents are not backed up. First things first, pick up a 250 gig USB storage drive somewhere.  Everyone sells them, but if you go to walmart you can usually find a Seagate(good brand name) for under 70 bucks.

Always get your documents backed up before your computer starts to act up worse than it already is.  Now its time to run just a general disk clean up.  The University of Delaware website has a really nice vista walkthrough for people to use.  here

This should clean up alot of memory hogging items that can affect your web browsers responsiveness.
